It is a rare occasion that The Hunter finds themself with enough time on their hands to do anything for leisure. But when they do, it’s just…

Training. Shooting more stuff. The usual.

The trees surround them. The low illumination from the village’s torchlit paths guides their way amidst the dog. In front of them are several wooden targets with circles on their surfaces, displaying how accurate a shot is to its center. Some are on the ground, others pinned to trees or bushes.

And with their trusty bow, The Hunter practices their moves.

The leaves crunch beneath their hooves. Pivot, shoot. Jump, shoot. Shoot multiple arrows in succession. Split their own arrow with another one. 

Their movements are swift and graceful. 

And of course, all of this leads to one thing and one thing alone…

Their future face-off with the one and only King of the Forest, deep in the wooded terrain, smirking to herself…

The Hunter knows it. They see his face in their dreams.

With a sigh, they finally set the bow down on a nearby stump and begin the process of creating more arrows with the wood magic within them. The Hunter doesn’t count the arrows, either. They simply pull the wood from the roots in the ground until there’s enough to fill their quiver.

In the morning, they will repeat the process again.
