In the Dreamscape there were almost no limitations to what Morpheus was able to do. Nothing he couldn’t create - as long as he was able to imagine it. If he could picture it in his mind, his magic wove a perfect image of it in the dream realm. And Morpheus felt like he was the king of the castle. Pure freedom. He loved every second of it.

From time to time he had to deal with stuff in the “real” world, but most of his time he spent in dreams. Not his own dreams but the dreams of other people. As a Dreamwalker he was able to wander all kinds of worlds dreamt up by others. And he was able to influence them like he pleased. Whenever he visited – or rather entered – a stranger’s dream he fed off the energy emitted by it.

If they were nightmares they provided a vast amount of vigour or vitality. So called “good” dreams provided less of it. Those were obviously less stressful for the hosts though. Right now, Morpheus was inside a fellow Painted Satyr’s dream. The host of the dream was called Saruel and he was one of the very few people who were even remotely close to being a friend of his.

Morpheus normally refrained from influencing Saruel’s dreams too much. First of all, Morpheus liked the other Painted Satyr and didn’t want him to have unnecessary nightmares and apart from that his dreams often proved to be interesting. In the sense of being very close to nature without being boring. His bonds to nature and old magic were strong.

Morpheus looked around. He was standing on a clearing in the middle of the woods as it seemed. Heavy rain poured down and it was hard to make out things more than a few feet away. The air smelled moist and earthy. With every step forward, Morpheus’ hooves sank a few inches into the wet soil. “I wonder if it’s a good dream for him.”, he mumbled to himself. “He seems to be the type that likes rain.” Eventually he reached the clearing’s edge and bent down to inspect the vast vegetation. Morpheus was really impressed by the amount of details this dream contained.

Every mushroom, every blade of grass – yeah, even every raindrop – was fully developed. Saruel’s dream felt full of life. You could really make out the love the other Painted Satyr had for nature. Most dreamers didn’t dream in so much detail. Most “worlds” looked real and vivid at first glance, but the moment you inspected smaller things you could see that they were kind of…low definition.

There was – of course – a reason for that. The better a dreamer knew the environment he dreamt of, the more detailed it became. And since Saruel lived in the forest, he knew it very well. Nevertheless, the high definition was impressive.

Morpheus looked up into the grey sky. Heavy dark clouds moved across the firmament, blocking most of the sun rays. Large raindrops beat against his face but he didn’t mind. It was strangely calming. Morpheus decided to just soak and relax a bit before moving on to another dream.
