Day 7. Secrets

The darkness held many secrets, everyone knows this. The monsters and beasts that hide within it, the pain people would bury inside of it, wishing it far away where it couldn’t hurt them anymore.There were things like that too, for the satyr. Though memories unreachable to them now, the vision that came to them through starsight whispered of the pain in their ears. They thought perhaps, their whole life had been a secret too. Buried away on a barren planet hoping to never awaken.

Secrets were why Crescendo thought Mazara had left into the darkness, too. They didn’t need to hear the words from his mouth to know of the unspoken secrets Mazara had carried with him for centuries. They could see how it hung onto him, clinging to his body with every step, every sigh. Moments where something brought him back to the things he kept hidden away. It had been ironic perhaps that their starsight had warned them of what they were coming day after day, held in nightmares that made no sense to them no matter how often Crescendo thought of them. A magical burning across their body, their soul being fractured and cast away, the home that wasn’t their own meeting the same fate.

In the end, really, the satyr couldn’t blame him for leaving. Even the flashes of memories that weren’t theirs terrified Cress to their core. But… they couldn’t help but wonder if the ancient was running away from his secrets… or running towards them?
