Traits

‼️ Please read over the main crest info first! Applying any of these effects will make your crest UNCOMMON.

★ Blazing Crest

Trait: Lights a crest on fire giving it a burning aura, or makes a flaming crest even more firey. 

✅ SPECIAL SIZING FOR BLAZING ONLY: One flame trail of the blazing effect can extend 1x extra head height past the main crest for common-rare crests. Cannot make mythic crests larger than max. DOES NOT CHANGE CREST SIZE this only affects the blazing flame trail.
✅ Can be applied to any crest to make it firey. Crest can be surrounded in fire or have flaming trails
✅ Can be applied to other effects
✅ For fire-styled crests it gives them a larger blaze and multiple flame tails
✅ Flame trails can have smaller branching flames

❌ Flames should flow together and not be spiked out in all directions

★ A burning soul! While most crests only give a slight tingly sensation when reached through, the blazing crest feels a little warm though it isn't enough to burn. Crests like these are souls overflowing with energy and it takes added effort to control it.

★ Bubble

Trait: Makes the crest bubbly or bubble-like in appearance

✅ Can be slightly translucent on 25% of the crest TOTAL as long as color is still retained elsewhere
✅ Can affect any shape or other effects

❌ CANNOT BE ENTIRELY TRANSPARENT, must still have obvious color on the crest and should follow all crest color guidelines.
❌ Cannot have other shapes floating in the bubble by default, you would need a second crest to have something contained inside the bubble crest
❌ Bubbles should be ATTACHED or float very very close to the crest
❌ Bubbles on the crest should be round

★ The bubbles signify leaking energy, causing those with crests like these to tire out a bit faster. Their crests sometimes look as if they're being boiled, especially when the browbird experiences heightened emotions.

★ Ooze

Trait: Allows the crest to look like liquid or drip.

✅ Goo can be like water, slime, painted, etc and can be flowing or stringy
✅ Can be applied to any shape or effect
✅ Can make the crest itself drip, or create a dripping boarder around the crest, or a combination of the two

❌ The liquid is not actually physical and would not drip onto the character, it should be contained to the crest only

★ Oozing leak much in the same way bubbling crests do, but not nearly to the same extent. These crests are slower to recover magical energy.

★ Radiance

Trait: Places a halo-like disc behind the crest shape. It can have simple lines!

✅ Can entirely surround the crest or surround only specific parts of it
✅ If the disc overlaps with the horns/hair/head it would always appear BEHIND the horns/hair/head, even if the crest itself would not!
✅ Lines can extend very slightly beyond the radiance disc

❌ The radiance ALWAYS appears behind the crest no matter the angle
❌ The radiance is NOT separate from the crest
❌ MUST have lines within the radiance like the examples, it cannot be a featureless circle
❌ Lines should be straight or circular only like the examples, they should not be ornate or swirl
❌ Can only be applied ONCE per crest
❌ Can only be disc shaped
❌ Cannot extend past sizing limits, if the crest is already max sizing you would have to make it smaller to use radiance

★ The mark of someone who has excellent control over their magical abilities, not a single bit of aura is wasted.

★ Facet

Trait: Gives the crest a gemestone-like look

✅ Can be applied to any crest or effect
✅ Can make the crest slightly more geometric as long as it still retains the same shape

❌ MUST STILL LOOK LIKE THE SAME CREST SHAPE cannot be used to make the crest resemble shapes of a higher rarity. The crystal texture should always follow the logic of the crest shape.
❌ Other shapes cannot be contained within the gemstone unless you have a second crest placed within it!

★ There's a lot going on with facet crest people.

★ Huge Crest

Trait: Allows the crest to be over 1x head height to a max of 1.5x head height

✅ Sizing is always proportional to your character and how they are drawn/stylized.

❌ CANNOT GO PAST 1.5x head height this includes ALL effects, multiple crests, and particles. 

★ The larger the crest, the more magical energy a browbird has to draw from allowing them to perform bigger feats of magic, but it takes them far longer to recover if they're utterly drained. There are also bigger risks that come with overdrawing.

★ DARK AND PRISMATIC

Trait: Rare crest color possibilities! Unlimited hues and a wider range for dark colors.

✅ Prismatic lets you have any amount of different colors on the crest applied to any part of the crest, effects, and particles
✅ Prismatic effect ALSO allows the crest to optionally change to any color (within crest rarity) whether it be at will or for a specific IC reason. This can optionally be included on the masterlist but does not have to be.
✅ Dark crests allow any amount of DARK saturated colors placed anywhere on the crest, effects, and particles
✅ You can mix where the colors are placed and how much coverage there is!

❌ DARK CRESTS cannot be duller than common crests, ONLY darker. The examples show the darkest possible colors!
❌ KEEP IN MIND some gradients may make muddy colors that turn gray, try to stay within range even on gradients!

★ Dark crests give off less light, hinting at some kind of run in with the Abyss.
★ Prismatic crests on the other hand are flashy. A multicolored soul often means you will find more success when branching out into new aspects.

★ Shattered

Trait: Breaks the crest apart

✅ Can be broken into any amount of fragments but fragments must be floating VERY CLOSE TOGETHER and maintain the shape of the original crest
✅ Can have cracks, be broken fragments, or both
✅ 1-5 tiny shards can float slightly further from the crest (check the star example below)
✅ Breaks can be jagged or clean
✅ Can be applied to effects

❌ Cannot be made to look like multiple crest shapes at all, it must be pieces of a singular crest only

★ It is a scar left behind by trauma. What could alter someone's view of the world so drastically that it breaks apart their soul?

★ Starlit

Trait: Fills the crest with tons of sparkles, stars, and constellations. The stars contained within move separately from the crest, like you are gazing through a hole into another world.

✅ Can be applied to the shape or any effects

❌ Must be contained within the crest

★ Those with close ties to the astral oceans have souls filled with stars. No matter where they are, the crest reflects the sky in a place that was important to them.

★ Scribble

Trait: Changes the crest to have a rough, scratchy, or scribbly drawing look.

✅ Can be applied to any shape and effects
✅ Can affect the whole crest or just the outlines/patterns

❌ Must still retain the crest shape and be clear which crest shape it is regardless of roughness

★ A sign of instability, whether it be in your body, magic, or mind. The soul is struggling to hold itself together, one day it may unravel.

★ Brilliance

Trait: Adds glowing streaks of light around the edges of the crest

✅ Can fully or partially surround the crest or an effect
✅ Can overlap with the crest
✅ Sizes of the individual brilliance lights can be uneven sizes but should still at least vaguely form a circle or half circle

❌ Cannot extend past the crest sizing limit, if your crest is already max size for its rarity you will have to size it down to fit the brilliance
❌ Can only be applied ONCE per crest shape
❌ Cannot be used to make the crest resemble a clock

★ Someone who has been so loved that the shine of their soul reflects it.

★ Outline

Trait: Turns a crest into just an outline of its shape.

✅ Can be applied to any crest shape, effect, or both

❌ All parts of the outline must be entirely connected, there cannot be stray floating shapes (unless shattered)
❌ Must be SIMPLE and follow the shape of the crest only, new crest shapes cannot be added within the outline. It should not resemble crests of a higher rarity!

★ Something important is missing, or was it taken? Those with only an outline crest have experienced a loss so devestating that it took part of their soul with it.

‼️ Please read over the main crest info first! Applying any of these effects will make your crest MYTHIC.

★ SUPERMASSIVE

Trait: Allows the crest to be larger than 1.5x head height up to a max of 50% BODY HEIGHT (not counting horns or hair).

✅ Allows any crest to optionally be placed behind the head if large enough
✅ Can be placed partially behind the upper back as long as part of the crest still shows above the head/horns
✅ Sizing is always proportional to your character and how they are drawn/stylized.

❌ CANNOT GO PAST 50% BODY HEIGHT this includes ALL effects, multiple crests, and particles.
❌ Cannot be entirely on the back, should still be mostly in the head/horns area!

★ The larger the crest, the more magical energy a browbird has to draw from allowing them to perform even grander feats of magic, but it takes them far longer to recover if they're utterly drained. The consequences for overdrawing are also much, much greater.

★ BLACK, DULL, OR WHITE

Trait: Allows the crest to be in the black, gray, dull, or white color range past what's allowed for common and rare. These colors can be applied however you want and optionally mixed with brighter tones.

✅ Can apply to any crest and any effect partially or fully.
✅ Can be applied to particles
✅ Black and dull crests do not have to glow!

★ A white crest represents the soul of one that has passed through the dreamscape and thus has been reincarnated many, many times. Their aura has become celestial light itself.
★ Black crests are a sign of being voidtouched, their soul drenched in the abyssal void. They do not give off any light, but some crests may naturally bend light to give the illusion of a glowing edge.
★ Dull Crests are a fading glow between wild dreams and nothingness. What could have happened to them to leave such a mark?

Crest colors mean nothing in terms of morality, black isn't bad and white isn't good. These are symbols that represent connections to other planes of reality, the results of major life events, and mysterious omens.

★ THORNED

Trait: Adds any amount of thorns and spikes to the crest.

✅ Can be applied to the main shape
✅ Can be applied to other effects
✅ Thorns can be straight or curved slightly
✅ Can be thick or thin

❌ Thorns cannot be applied to other thorns obtained from this feature
❌ Thorns MUST be sharp and follow the general thorn shape

★ Unstable and aggressive, a thorned crest represents magic threatening to lash out at any moment. Magic that sometimes acts on it's own and is difficult to control. Something likely made them this way, what could have affected their soul so deeply?

★ PARHELION

Trait: Adds a large parhelion shape around the crest

✅ Can encircle the entire crest or only part of the crest
✅ Can have SLIGHT, SMALL lens flares as shown in the example

❌ Cannot extend past the size limits! So if your crest is already very large it may need to be reduced in size if you're applying parhelion around the entire crest.

★ The mark of something grand, the brightest star condensed into a single soul. It is control, but also the knowledge of how easily it can overwhelm you.
