Though it often rained in the swamp, this storm was rather unusual in its intensity. Wind blustered and battered the poor treetops, whacking them side to side relentlessly. Heavy rain drenched between the leaves, soaking the entire forest and flooding the usual low tides. Water poured down streams and covered marshy islands, leaving no solid ground.
